Necromunda.. ground level...

On Monday at COGS we had another game of Necromunda. Having seen a few of the terrain setups on the Necromunda Worldwide Facebook group I thought that with my completely flat ground level I was missing out on a trick.

Then I remembered this boards I'd made many, many years ago for the Bridge over Khazad Dum scenario for the Lord of the Rings Strategy Battle Game.

After a quick search I found the boards in a loft. Being primarily made of expanded polystyrene insulation sheets I needed to touch up the paintwork a bit. They could be placed over either side of base boards for the standard grey Necromunda colour or the sea of used for my naval battles. In the end we plumed for the watery look:

We played "The Raid" Scenario, unfortunately Steve managed to bring some of his guys in on my flank and the ensuing fight put paid to any chance of me succeeding at the mission.

Necromunda - Underhive Scum and Ladders

After the game of Necromunda a couple of weeks ago one of my Juves, "Squirt", died. To replace him I bought an "Underhive Scum" hired gun. This has meant I've had to buy a new model. I had a good search around and decided to go with one of the original Citadel models, the one with a plasma gun and autopistol. This will fit in well with the "Gunfighter" skill which will allow him to shoot both each turn.

We also noticed that the Deadzone terrain we used was rather lacking in ladders. So I got these inexpensive MDF ones from Warbases.

Necromunda 1st Game

It was my first game of Necromunda tonight. My Delaque Gang faced off against Steve's Goliath gang at Scavenger Hunt.

I did pretty well! Steve couldn't seem to hit anything, and only wounded a single juve. I won the scenario, got more loot. However unfortunately the juve died of his wounds (RIP Squirt). Steve's injured gangers all recovered though luckily one of his heavies now has an old injury that may keep him out of a few scenarios.

Man of the match has to go to Jayne. He downed two enemy with a single burst of his heavy stub gun.

Four of my gangers managed to get upgrades.

Steve will go into the next game with an extra juve and a ratskin scout. I didn't get to replace my juve, but added an underhive scum and a rather good ratskin map.

Necromunda Terrain Part 2

After Steve said "Looks great, and will be fine for a game, but even more terrain will be better. Really limited Los on the ground level is what we want." in response to my last blog post I thought I better add some more. Luckily I had a big box on the way...

This is now finished for tomorrow night's game.

Necromunda Terrain

This blog is really a shout out to Steve...

"Is this enough terrain for Necromunda?"

I've painted the backs of two of my sea boards for a sci-fi industrial wasteland sort of look and put my Deadzone scenery on it.

If it's not enough then I do have some more stuff to scatter about and I have another 30(ish) sprues coming. :D

Necromunda Gang

So, Steve said... "Lets play Necromunda".

Well it's a fairly old game, but one I've only ever heard good things about. Plus I've had the actual rulebook for sometime now. I think I picked it up on a bring and buy for a couple of quid.

So I agreed. He lent me his rulebook, and I realised I didn't have everything I needed. So I obtained the "Sourcebook" as well for a reasonable price off ebay.

Then I looked around at models. There's plenty of Necromunda gangs on ebay, but I decided to also look at alternative models. I considered using my Deadzone models and my old 40K Imperial Guard, but wasn't entirely convinced. Which is when I found this page.

This then lead me to Heresy Miniatures and their Sci-Fi Gangers. Despite not saying a word about Necromunda on their page, I could see these were an almost perfect match for the Necromunda Delaque gang. They even had "Juves", although they called them "Noobs". The price for a while put me off, but the quality and dynamism of the sculpts eventually drew me in. (Plus the realisation that compared with the going rate for old GW gangs they weren't far off.)

Anyway with the first game about 8 days away now I finally got them finished off. These are just the models for the starting gang. I have about the same number again to build and paint as the campaign progresses.

Wars of the Roses progress and other projects

So I just completed Edward IV and a unit of Billmen taking me to this:

I'm not sure whether to paint the next Bows, Bills and Men at Arms also in the royal livery or whether to move over to one of the other lords I have Hastings or Fauconberg.

Anyway, before I get on with that the Coastal Castle project has had me looking at Langton's Napoleonic Naval again. I found some I have had in their packets for 20 years and started them off.

The ship in the back is one I completed 20 years ago.

But then to top things off we have a Necromunda campaign planned at COGS and being a newb to the game I have needed to get myself a gang. Rather than the old GW models I was drawn to Heresy Miniatures' Sci-Fi Gangers, which are perfect to be used as Delaque. So far all I've got done is build them up...
