Frostgrave 4-way game. City Ready for Derby!

With Derby World Wargames coming up next weekend, the city making has been going at full steam, as you will have seen in the previous blog posts.

Today I was lucky enough to have arranged to have a game with my friend Ed and his son Henry. Along with my son, we made it a 4-way game of Frostgrave in the city so far.

There's very little more to be done to it now, though I do have another building in progress at the moment.

Anyway, it was a great game. We used the teleporter disc scenario and as a result it was complete mayhem. High points of the battle were Henry managing to Mind Control several soldiers, Ed spraying all around him with a scatter shot, Brendan's Templar putting paid to Ed's wizard some time later and the rather scary grenades that my Enchanter liked throwing.

Remember that we'll be at Derby World Wargames at Donington Park Saturday and Sunday next weekend if you want to play. Bring your own (painted) warband or borrow one of the ones we'll have ready made.

Scatter for Frostgrave and the completed Gothic Church

With the Derby World Wargames show coming up soon I've been busy creating more terrain for the Frostgrave games we'll be running there.

First up some miscellaneous scatter made with Hirst Arts.

I also completed the Hirst Arts Gothic Church, adding stained glass windows, a door and lighting.

Oh and of course these are all pictured on 4 new 1 foot square baseboards.

Monsters for Frostgrave and Kings of War

I've just completed few more monsters to add to my collection. Some specifically for use with Frostgrave, some with Kings of War as well.

First of all the "Violent Fungus"...

... then there's the Zombie Trolls...

and finally I realised that I didn't have a Vampire, but I found this old Hammerhead figure in my collection...

There's been a bit of a gap since my last post. My excuse is that I've been very busy re-enacting! 

Having said that I have made a few new bits.

First up I've completed the water features on the Frostgrave boards.

Second I created a few new smaller terrain items.

Last, but not least, I've completed a few extra monsters for Frostgrave. A few Wargames Factory skeleton warriors, and three models from Reaper Bones: Ettin (to be used as a two-headed troll; Basilisk and Minotaur.

Frostgrave City Boards - Work in Progress - drybrush complete

So, it's been pretty quiet this month. August always is for me. Re-enacting takes over. Having said that there has been progress...

The Hirst Arts Gothic Church has gained a roof (it still needs windows and a door) and the Frostgrave city boards have progressed to having had their dry brushing stage completed. Next I need to detail the "canal" and also work out what to do with the garden? bits next to the slope.

I've just tried it out with some of the buildings I normally use and I think it looks pretty good. Though I think I need to make some stone walls and probably a few things like fountains and wells.

This is all being prepared for Frostgrave participation/demo games at the Derby World Wargames Show and the Fiasco show in Leeds.

Progress with Dungeon and Gothic Church

I've been busy upgrading the dungeon to work with Into The Breeding Pits. The missing parts needed were the 8 entrance ways, two on each side.

I've not quite finished them yet, they are still unpainted, but since I had some time last night I've built up the dungeon layout with all the new bits ready for the games on Monday night at COGS. I should have them ready by then.

I also got the Gothic church painted... It's still not ready though as it has no roof!

Frostgrave boards, Gothic Church and other Work in Progress

I mentioned in the last post that I also have several Hirst Arts based items currently in progress.

There's a Gothic Church, basically identical to the standard Hirst Arts one with some extra internal detailing. This will have a roof cast from the pan-tile mould. Maybe not normal for a church in the gothic style, but I like it.

Also there are a set of boards for the main Frostgrave table I'll be putting on at the Derby World Wargames in October. This will be an open chance to come and play Frostgrave. We'll have starter warbands ready and invite existing players to bring along their warbands for pickup games.

The boards are based on the MDF set from TTCombat. I have 16 boards, enough for the 3ft x 3ft and 2ft x 2ft boards at Derby and with an additional purchase of a double set I'll have enough for two 3ft x 3ft boards. (The dungeon will also be present at the Derby show.)

In addition to this I've built up the standard Small Fieldstone Bridge which will cross the small canals I have in the boards. I've also built what will probably be the last (at least for now) part of the walkway system.
